Tower Technician
Work description
The Tower Technician position is for individuals who enjoy being challenged both physically and mentally. You will need to cooperate and work well on a crew of three or four members. Tower Technicians climb hundreds of feet on all types of towers and install wireless communications equipment. Being able to work in windy, very cold or very hot conditions will be required. It is essential that Tower Technologies maintains a drug-free work place, applicants considered for employment will be drug screened.
Safety is absolutely necessary and the highest priority of Tower Technologies. You will be secured to the tower at all times while you are on the tower. No Exceptions! Tower Technologies will only provide the best tower climbing harnesses and other safety equipment. Each Tower Technician is required and responsible for Using, Inspecting, and Maintaining the equipment assigned to them. Every Tower Technoician will be properly trained and certified before being permitted to work on a tower.
Skills / Experience
A good candidate for the Tower Technician position will be honest, responsible, dependable, hard working, interested in learning a variety of skills, and, of course, comfortable working at great heights. Experience as a Tower Technician is not necessary, but the will to learn is. Each Tower Technician will be trained with certifications in Tower Climbing Safety & Rescue, CPR/First Aid, OSHA 10-hour, Fundamentals of Rigging, along with numerous connector training certificates. Performance evaluations will be conducted routinely to document each technician's progress and be used to determine performance raises.
Travel
Weekly travel may be required. When you are required to stay overnight for a job you will receive $75 dollars per day for lodging and meals.
Pay
With no construction experience the starting wage is $14.00 per hour, with $1/hr raise after the trial period of 90 days. With experienced applicants the starting wage can be much higher. Every employee will receive a guaranteed $1/hr raise every calendar year along with performance raises.
